Desaturating PSD Colouring Files
This set of Desaturating PSD Colouring files contains 4 files, each desaturating to a greater or lesser extent. I have included examples that use a combination of 2 of the files, showing the vast amount of variations possible, before even touching the adjustment layers. This is definitely a set you can play around with to achieve the look you require, suitable for your image. The download button is after the showcase.
PSD 1
There are 5 adjustment layers in this version. It keeps the whites and highlights quite bright whilst desaturating all other colours.

PSD 2
With 4 adjustment layers, a solid fill grey layer gives an almost completely saturated effect.

PSD 3
This file is a lighter desaturation, creating a kind of vintage effect.

PSD 4
Leaving a bit more colour in the image, this creates a pale, desaturated and lighter version of the original.

Combining PSD Files
The following image shows the use of PSDs 1 and 2. To achieve this result, they must be in the placed in the layers palette with 1 above 2.
Using those 2 groups the other way around – 2 above 1 – gives the following result:
Here are the results of PSDs 1 and 3 combined. First is PSD 1 above 3, followed by the other way around:
A very dark image is the result of using PSD 1 above PSD 3 with a lot of detail loss:
Using PSD 3 above 1 gives a more detailed but highly grainy result.
These are the results using firstly PSD 1 above PSD 4, then the other way around in the layers palette:
Finally, the combinations of PSDs 2 and 3 and 3 and 2:

The above results have been achieved using a combination of 2 desaturating PSD files without any tweaking of the adjustment layers. I did not include the combinations of PSDs 2 and 4, and 3 and 4 because I think you should have the general idea from those I did show. Hopefully it shows the incredible amount of variation available using either just one of the files or mixing and matching them to suit your image and requirements.
