Textured Text Tutorial is an easy effect that would work well for scrapbooking, or anything related to children, as well as many other uses I haven’t yet thought of! You can choose your own colour, making it quite versatile for all colour schemes. If you have any problems working through the tutorial, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Step 1
Open a new document using the following settings:
Step 2
Set the Foreground colour to #722A6C and the Background colour to #360432
Select the Gradient Fill Tool and in the Basics folder, choose the Foreground to Background gradient.
Set to Radial Gradient, then drag the cursor from the centre of the canvas to one of the corners.
Step 3
Type your text, using Sweet Home font at 220pt, colour: White. [Note: You can, of course use any font, but a Unicase font such as my suggested one works well. A few others I have come across include:

Step 4
Ctrl + Click on the thumbnail of the text layer in the layers palette to select the pixels.
Create a new layer.
Set the Foreground colour to #E15DBF and the Background colour to #8D0713.
Make sure the new layer is active.
Filter > Render > Clouds
DO NOT DESELECT
Step 5
Create another new layer.
Set the Foreground colour to #7F156F and the Background colour to #D6A1DD
Filter > Render > Fibers – Variance: 20 Strength: 1
You can click on the Randomize button until you find a pattern you like. Try to get an even distribution of light and dark colours.
Reduce the layer opacity to 74% and set the Layer Mode to Soft Light
Ctrl + D to deselect.
Step 6
Select the 3 text layers (click on the top one, hold the Shift key and click on the bottom one to select all three).
Right click on any of those layers and click Rasterize Type.
Right click again and click Merge Layers.
Filter > Filter Gallery > Artistic > Paint Daubs
Apply the following settings:
- Brush Size: 9
- Sharpness: 10
- Brush Type: Wide Sharp
Step 7
Double click on the layer to bring up the blending options and apply the following Bevel & Emboss, Contour, Texture and Drop Shadow settings:
That’s it. Here is the end result:
The above is reduced to half size, so here is the result at full size:
