Sparkly Text Effect Photoshop Tutorial
Another offering for the Christmas season, this is a wonderful way to create sparkly, glittering text in a variety of colours.
Sparkly Text Effect
This effect uses everything Photoshop, no outside resources are required, other than any fonts you may wish to use.
Step 1
Open a new document any size you require – for the purposes of this tutorial, I used 816px x 550px.
Use a bold font of your choice – I used Georgia Bold at 200pt, any colour is fine.
Duplicate the layer.
Rename the top text layer ‘top text’, and the layer underneath ‘bottom text’.
Step 2
Make the ‘top text’ layer invisible by clicking on the eye icon in the layers palette, and make the ‘bottom text’ layer active. Apply the following Bevel & Emboss and Contour, Inner Glow, Satin, Color Overlay and Drop Shadow settings:
Note: If you think you will want to use this text effect again, it could be a good idea to keep the effect as a style. If you bring up the blending options box, you can do exactly that. Give it any name you wish, and click OK.
Step 3
Make the ‘top text’ layer visible again and make the layer active.
Start by changing the Blending Options as follows:
Apply the following Gradient Overlay, Color Overlay and Stroke settings:
And it should end up looking like this:
Here are some other colour effects – the colours used are so different from the actual resulting colour as we have used Difference as the main blending option.
