Geometric Patterns for Photoshop – Free Download
A set of 18 geometric patterns for Photoshop. Most of these patterns are transparent, they are all monochrome in shades of grey, so a colour overlay will give different shades of the chosen colour.
Geometric Patterns
The examples below show the patterns at full size, as they are (greys), and the patterns at 50% scale with a colour overlaid.
Pattern 1
Bright pink, #BD22AD was added as a new layer above the pattern layer, blend mode: Color, opacity: 80%.
Pattern 2
I used blue #4368C7 on a layer above the pattern layer, blend mode: Overlay, opacity: 100%
Pattern 3
This cube pattern had an almost black #060506 layer added, blend mode: Overlay, opacity: 100%
Pattern 4
A layer above the pattern layer filled with purple #5824CD, blend mode: Color, opacity: 50%
Pattern 5
I used a violet shade #5F2D79 to fill a new layer, blend mode: Overlay, opacity: 60%
Pattern 6
This pattern has orange #E38C11 on a new layer, blend mode: Overlay, opacity: 100%. I filled the background layer with a dirty pink #C2ADB1.
Pattern 7
A new layer filled with green #054008, blend mode: Overlay, opacity 100%
Pattern 8
I used a brown shade #72470B, blend mode: Overlay, opacity: 100%
Pattern 9
A pale orange #CCA561 was used on a new layer, blend mode: Overlay, opacity 100%
Pattern 10
This pattern seems to me to be an optical illusion… it can look like cubes with a cut-out corner, it can look like bolt-heads, or cubes with a small cube nestled in the corner – it depends on your viewpoint! I filled a new layer with black, blend mode: Overlay, opacity: 100%
Pattern 11
This pattern uses a blue/grey #7479A8 filled layer, blend mode: Vivid Light, opacity 100%
Pattern 12
I filled a new layer with brown #5C4E48, blend mode: Vivid Light, opacity: 100%
Pattern 13
I used a pale lilac #CBADE4 to fill a new layer, blend mode: Overlay, opacity: 100%. An even paler lilac #BDA7CE was used to fill the background layer – this darkens the pattern a little.
Pattern 14
A blue/green #245251 fill was used here. Blend mode: Color, opacity 100%. I set the pattern layer’s fill at 0%, then rasterized that layer. Clip the colour filled layer to it, then merge those 2 layers together. Now you can fill the background with colour, I used a very pale green #DAE4CB.
Pattern 15
I used brown #624A28, blend mode: Color, opacity 100%. Set the pattern layer’s fill at 0%, then rasterize the layer. Clip the colour filled layer to it, then merge the 2 layers together. I then filled the background with the same colour.
Pattern 16
I filled a new layer was filled with purple #A647C9, blend mode: Overlay, opacity: 100%. The pattern layer’s fill was set at 0%, then I rasterized the layer. I clipped the colour filled layer to it, then merged the 2 layers together. I filled the background with grey #E0E0E0.
Pattern 17
A new layer was filled with orange #DDB571, blend mode: Overlay, opacity: 100%. I didn’t give it a background colour, as any colour only lightens or darkens the original effect.
Pattern 18
I used red #A92031 to fill a new layer, blend mode: Screen, opacity: 80%. I then rasterized the pattern layer – the Fill for this layer has to be set at 0%, used a clipping mask for the red fill and pattern layers, then merged them together. Finally, I filled the background layer with blue #7D85A8.
Bonus Pattern
As I was compiling this list, another idea came to me, so I created another pattern and have added it as a bonus!
I filled a new layer with blue 225E9A, blend mode: Overlay, opacity: 100%. The white parts of this pattern are transparent, but I love they way the white looks, so left the background white.
