‘Moby-Dick; or, The Whale’ was written by Herman Melville. The author intended the novel to take around 6 months to write, however it finally took 18 months. It was first published in England in October 1851, then in the US in November of the same year.

‘The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club’ also known as The Pickwick Papers was Charles Dickens’ first novel. Serialised from March 1836 to November 1837, the full novel was published in 1837.

Treasure Island

Originally serialised in the children’s magazine Young Folks between 1881 and 1882 under the title ‘Treasure Island or the Mutiny of the Hispaniola’. Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel was first published as a book in November 1883 under the title ‘The Sea Cook: A Story for Boys’.

Utopia

Utopia was written by Thomas More in Latin and was first published in 1516. It was published in English in 1551. Thomas More was knighted in 1523 (making him Sir Thomas More), and became Lord Chancellor in 1529, under the monarchy of Henry VIII. He was executed for Treason in July 1535. Pope Leo XIII beautified Thomas More in December 1886, hence he became Saint Thomas More.
